Attack on Titan

Attack on Titan

In an alternate universe mankind is going extinct. The world turned into chaos when a beast known as a titan came into existence. No one knows exactly where they come from, but their only desire is to feed on humans. These creatures are anywhere between 10 to 20 feet tall. Most a slow at walking, but have fast reaction time with the arms when grabbing at people. These creatures forced man to hide behind stone walls to protect themselves. The only known successful settlement to survive these attacks was constructed to have 100ft tall walls, there are 3 sets of walls, two which are with in the biggest, and its name is Saint Maria. These walls are connect to different social class groups, the more poor districts and the farmers live on the outer walls, while the middle class and military barracks live in the seconds walls. While the king and all of the high class families live in the central walls. The people behind these walls have been safe for over a hundred years, but things can change drastically very quickly.

Our main protagonist’s name is Eren, at this time of the story he is 12 years old. Eren lives within the outside wall with his father, mother, and friend Mikasa. Eren’s father is one of the main doctors of the region. His job takes him all around the cities behind the walls.  Eren’s mother stays at home raising him and Mikasa. Mikasa was brought into the family after her family was murdered by a group of bandits looking for a place to hide out. Eren and Mikasa are good friends with another person named Armin. Armin is a cowardly person who is better with talking than fighting. Eren and Armin’s dream is to join the military and join the scout regiment. This group or soldiers are known for going beyond the wall and searching for anything beyond the walls that could help them kill the titans, or find other civilizations who have survived. Unfortunately, the scout regiments have never been successful in their attempts. In most cases only 1/3 of the original group make it back in one piece.  This worries most civilians, they feel that the military are just feeding the titans, instead of trying to actual find anything.

Even after all the horror stories, Eren and Armin want to join the scout regiment. They feel that they are like birds in a cage behind the walls. They want to explore all the areas they possibly can. Mikasa is upset with their dreams, she feels that they would just be throwing away their lives. Mikasa ends up telling Eren’s mother at dinner about the boys’ plan. Horrified Eren’s mother smacks him across the face and begins to shake him, screaming at him to never speak of it again. Angry Eren runs outside, where he ends up meeting up with Armin. They sit by a river discussing their plans to leave, and how horrible it is to live there. Just as they wish something bad would happen. A crash outside of the walls happens as a bolt of lightning hits the ground. As every one is staring up in shock, up rises a hand that sets on top of Wall Maria, when it raises itself up, people begin to scream. It is a 150ft tall titan staring inside the city. It kicks Wall Maria with such force that it causes a gush of wind to break down buildings and throw people in the air. Once part of the wall is completely broken, the titans outside instantly start going through the gap. Still in horror, some people are too afraid to even move. Many people begin to be devoured by the titans. Eren, Armin, and Mikasa watch in horror…….
This is where our story beings…….
Attack on Titan is one of the few rare cases where anime makes it huge in the United States. Many people of the horror genre have grown into the obsession of this. It deals mostly the mystery of the titans while also dealing with the hardship of losing comrades. Definitely a show worth checking into if you’re looking for something unique to watch.
